The Wodi Wodi is a visual meditation on the landscape of the Illawarra, a place where the mountains meet the sea. This artwork seeks to bridge the gap between the physical topography of the coast and the spiritual energy that flows through it.
\nThe painting is divided into two realms: seawater and earth.
\nThe upper section represents the shimmer of the ocean, a symbol of life force and the enduring ancestral presence carried within the waves. The lower half depicts meeting places and campsites, the deep rooted history of gathering, ceremony and community.
\nThe dotting techniques in the painting asserts that Wodi Wodi culture is not a relic of the past but is living and breathing. Every mark speaks to knowledge, memory and movement.
